Thankyou for the Beetroot Seeds.

Jason from over at Zucchini Island was having a giveaway of some Beetroot seeds so I asked nicely to be included..
They came a couple of days ago.

Check out his blog and his new business.
I think it's a great idea and hope it works out for him.

Hello!

My computer guy has just left and as you can see...I'm back.  Did you all miss me as much as I missed being here?  Probably not.  I have missed it A lot!  Sad isn't it but such is my life.  Sadder still, it is bedtime and I am out all day tomorrow so can't get to have a play until tomorrow night.   Hopefully I'll be strong enough to get me after work jobs done first.  See you then.

Happy Birthday To Me.

Yep, it's my birthday today...and I have to work.  HoHum...

I don't usually work on Wednesdays but the woman had an important meeting so I get to go in today instead of yesterday.  Doesn't matter.  It's still my birthday and I have made Satay to have for tea when I get home.

Hubby might make me my *get home from work and have a coffee* coffee.  If not I'll make it myself, it will still be good.

I'm getting on now...more than 50, less than 55...There are so many things that I haven't done, a few I'd even like to try...Some will get done this year, some will get done next year but that 55 is getting closer and my list isn't getting shorter so I'd better get a move on.

But anyway...Happy Birthday To Me!   And anyone else having a birthday today.

Earth Hour

It is that time of year again when the world is called on to turn their lights off.  For an hour.  For 1 night.

If it gets people to change their way of living long term then I am all for it but I don't believe that it does.

I think that most of the people that turn their light off tonight will have them on tomorrow even when they don't need to.  TV's will be left on when they go outside...they will have a long shower, sprinklers will be on when it's been raining...
Christmas lights will get bigger and more brighter every year...car racing will still be going on...good usable stuff will still get taken to the tip...

I don't have lights on here unless I absolutely have to.  The TV is not on unless I am watching something and is turned off afterwards.  There are nights when it is not on at all.  If we didn't have one I wouldn't miss it.
I do have the computer on too much but the monitor is turned off when it's not being used.

So why does it bother me?  I dunno but it does.  Am I a hypocrite?

If you participate in Earth Hour please consider tomorrow night as well.  And all the rest of your nights.

Present for being brave.

It's been a week since I was brave and took the train by myself.

It was good being able to do it but it was better that night when Hubby rang from work to ask how I went and to say that he was proud of me for doing something tha made me so worried.  Now he never does stuff like that so it was a very pleasant surprise.

A couple of days later when he was home he said he'd bought me a present because I had been so brave.  Isn't he a nice husband...

They're coming to get you...

Being not so brave...afterall, they're not even real.  Scarey though...Laughing 1

I have been looking for a floating crocodile head to put in the dam for ages.
He goes off to the shop for something and there they are...
Lovely man, he do have his moments.

Summer Rain.

I love it when it rains during Summer.  It cools and refreshes everything and the gardens seem to shoot upward to show their pleasure as well.  Unfortunately the grass does the same.  I need to rethink *mowing the grass* and start thinking *collecting chookfood and mulch* but it's easier to think the negative when I am out there trying to push the mower through the thick, long stuff.

It's been raining here on and off yesterday, most of the night and is still raining now.  Not a lot but we have puddles everywhere and I had to wear a rain jacket earlier when I was outside.
I have put the chickens in a pen and though they had plenty of shade I had taken the tin that sheltered the last lot during winter away.  This morning I worried about them so went out and set up another dry area for them.  They probably couldn't care less, they all seem to like being out in the rain but it makes me feel better knowing they have a dry warm spot to go into if they want.

I lit the fire this morning, not because it is cold but it will get me up and cooking stuff.  I will do a pot of lentil and veg mush but I mainly want it to make up a batch of Zucchini Pickle.  Hubby tasted some at work and asked for the recipe and I now have that plus everything else needed for it so...That is what I will be doing later.  He says it is something that makes Zukes taste good and as I have a few bigger ones here I will use some of them up for this.

The rain does mean that I will be inside most of the day.  And I have the new computer.  And my arms are sore so I won't be able to do as much book reading as I want.  Which, if you can read between the lines, basically means that I will have a near wasted day on here.  But it is Monday and Monday is MY Day so it doesn't matter, today I can do what I want and not feel guilty.

Do you ever have a *your day*?  What do you like to do during your time?

BLOGS and Blogging.

Do you have a BLOG?  If so, Why do you blog?  Do you have a regular time for blogging?  For reading blogs?
Do you not do other stuff so that you can blog or read blogs?

I have 3 now.  Yes 3.  Three that I write on but heaps more that I read, some I even follow.  But there is the danger.  You read someones blog, they have a list of blogs that they read, you go to one or two, they lead to more and 2 hours later you realise that the chooks haven't been checked on.  No wonder my house is a tip.
And now, because I have started walking again (and blogging about it) that takes out 40 minutes or so of my computer time so it has to now come from somewhere else.  Like housework time.  Not that there was a lot of that to start with but you can see my dilemma, I'm sure.  But it's a cheap. fun hobby so I'm sticking to it.

My other 2 blogs, yes this was just a way of letting you all know where and what they are, can be found here.
http://fitterbyfriday.blogspot.com/  About me trying to get fit.  I need it to keep me honest.
And here:
http://iwannawander.blogspot.com/  About our camping adventures and my journey to go off by myself, sometime.

This one was to help me stick to my challenge to grow our own vegetable this year and it has succeeded in that.  We haven't bought any for us to eat and it will be good to have a record of a year in the life of...Hey, that sounds like a good blog title!  A year in the life of us would be a pretty boring blog though so I'll just stick to the three that I have,  For now anyway.  This one was only going to go for a year and then I was going to stop but it's fun so I will keep it going next year as well.   Aren't you all lucky, you can still read all about my exciting adventures in my backyard for another year.
SmileYeah, I knew you'd be pleased!!

I Won! What A Lovely Welcome Home.

Sherrie, over at http://simpleliving-sherrie.blogspot.com/ makes and sells enviro bags and a week or so ago she had a competition with one of her bags as a prize.  She was asking how people cut down on using plastics.  A few people posted their different ways but I was the lucky one.  Thankyou Sherrie.  I am looking forward to receiving and using it.

Check out Sherries blog.  She has some great stuff over there  .

Female Urinary Device. A Present For Me.

I have a bonus day off today as the kids I look after are quite sick.
Unfortunately I am quite sick too.  Feeling quite lousy in fact so:
I BOUGHT MYSELF A PRESENT!!
I rarely spend money, it just doesn't come naturally to me but this is something that I have been wanting but umming and ahhing about for months.

So what is it that I am all excited about?  I have bough tmyself a FUD.  A Female Urinary Device.  I talked about them over on my Wanna Wander blog  a while ago and wasn't sure then if I would get myself one but I fiqure  "why not?"

The lady selling them has just started up, this is a link to her website.
http://www.ezypeezyproducts.com.au/

There have been a few times when one of these would have come in handy, when we have been camping or out and the loos are a tad *icky*

I have ordered the Whiz.  It is purple.  Need I say more?
She is in Perth, Western Australia, and I reckon it is much better buying from her than from overseas.  I think we should suport a small, local business over the big companies whenever we can.

If I was a few years younger I would have also ordered the Lunette.  I think they are also one of the better inventions for women.

Daughter T. is probably glad that we don't do Christmas because this is what I would be giving out if we did.  She does have a birthday coming up soon though...

I am looking forward to recieving it and having a *play*  Why should the men have all the fun.

A Simple Lunch.

I have often heard the term "I wonder what the poor people are doing?"
Well today I had cause to think this and came up with this answer.

I am having lunch of fruity oat pikelets drizzled with organic honey, a just picked orange and hot strong coffee.  While sitting out in the sunshine,  reading a book.

It was nice.  As the simple things are.  I hope you all get to have times like this too.
